This is a re-enactment of the scene today...minus the rain, tornado sirens and lightening. As the story goes...Jim got up on the roof to take down the Christmas lights off the front of the house. It was 60 degrees today....so a good day to be outside. However, the wind kicked up...and blew the ladder down! I wasn't home and Jim didn't have his phone to call anyone for help. Then the rain came...tornado sirens...and finally the lightening! Jim was up there for 20 minutes and thought about jumping down....at least 3 times. The first time, the thought of a broken ankle...kept him on the roof, the second time...the thought of a broken leg...kept him on the roof, the third time...the thought of a broken hip...kept him on the roof. Finally, the neighbor saw him up there and waved at him. She came over and put the ladder back up on its legs so he could get down! He was completely soaked from the rain! I don't think he will get on the roof again when he is home alone....or at least he will have his phone!
We spent the evening at the hockey game and then went to Cindy and Eric's to celebrate New Year's Eve. We played cards, laughed and ate until 2011! It was a great ending to 2010!
oh my goodness! Glad that your neighbor saw him! That is quite a story!
ReplyDeleteOk I am sitting here picturing Jim up there and I know its not really funny because he could have been seriously hurt, but I had to laugh a little. I am glad he didn't get hurt and the neighbor came to his rescue.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness - thankful he is okay.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness your neighbor was home! Yeah, I'm sure he'll think twice before doing any of that again!
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, that's quite a way to spend a tornado warning! I'm sure that was pretty scarey for him! Thank goodness for your neighbor! Glad it all worked out
