Day 55, Monday, February 24, 2014

I heard the helicopter at school this morning.  I went out to see it.  I took a couple of pictures as it was hovering over the trees.  It landed in the park by our parking lot.  The rope has a "saw blade" attached and it was trimming the trees along the highway.  Each of those saw blades were about 24 inches in diameter and there were 10 of them.  That was one big "chain saw"!

Day 54, Sunday, February 23, 2014

We went to Granite City to have brunch for Stacie's birthday.

Day 53, Saturday, February 22, 2014

I borrowed Rob's truck to finish moving Nate's furniture, etc.  This is the road to his house.  It was almost flooded because the snow is melting, the rain is falling and the ground is still frozen!  Just enough road left to pass through.  Made me really nervous to drive through with my car.  Bluebird hill was even worse!

Day 52, Friday, February 21, 2014

I think we will be seeing a lot of this face!  Winston is back in the house...all 40 pounds of slobbering, shedding and farting self!  He is a pretty good dog, except for the above mentioned items!

Day 51, Thursday, February 20, 2014

Coco is looking in Nate's room.  Winston is in his kennel, just on the other side of the TV stand.  He doesn't want to go in there to see Winston.  He is getting more brave with each passing day.  I don't think these two will ever be "friends".  But hopefully, Winston won't take a bite out of Coco!

Day 50, Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Happy Birthday, Stacie!  She is 34 today.  I changed my locket to wear for her special day.

Day 49, Tuesday, February 18, 2014

We bought tickets to see the musical Flashdance.  It was an awesome show.  We have tickets to see Blue Man Group in April!

Day 48, Monday, February 17, 2014

It is snowing again today!  I was out and about several times today.  The lagoon looks so pretty in the snow, but I am really tired of the weather.  I was off work today for President's Day, but I am pretty confident, if we had school, it would have been a snow day!!

Day 47, Sunday, February 16, 2014

Winston has officially moved back in with us.  Nate and his dog will be living with us for a while.  He doesn't like to wear his harness, but that is the only way I will take him out to do his business.

Day 46, Saturday, February 15, 2014

I went to a scrapbook retreat at The Barn in Dahinda, IL.  I spent the night with 5 of my girlfriends in a barn that was built in 1995.  It has a loft for sleeping 6, small galley style kitchen, bathroom with a claw foot tub and lots of floor space to set up tables and enjoy our scrapping time.  I can't wait until the next time I can go.  There was a lot of snow on the ground and we got more during the afternoon.

Day 45, Friday, February 14, 2014

Jim and I went to the Peoria Chiefs stadium tonight for a private dinner for two in one of the suites.  We had shrimp cocktail, soup & salad, chicken & steak, potatoes & veggies and chocolate cake.  It was nice to have a quiet dinner and see the downtown area by night light.  It was fun and Jim was really surprised!

Day 44, Thursday, February 13, 2014

I seems as though we have a lot of birds in our trees and bushes this winter.  They are really fat ones, too.  I don't know how they keep warm enough to survive the cold weather.

Day 43, Wednesday, February 12, 2014

I went to body pump class tonight.  I love to see the sunset every time I go to the park.  It is always a beautiful sight.

Day 42, Tuesday, February 11, 2014

We finally made it to the 100th day of school.  I didn't think we were going to get there before March the way things have been going.  7 emergency days this school year.  I have never had more than 2 in one year.

Day 41, Monday, February 10, 2014

My horoscope for today.  I'm a Scorpio.

Day 40, Sunday, February 9, 2014

Nate and I went to Menard's and got new keys made for our door knobs.  He installed the new ones this afternoon and we needed more keys.

Day 39, Saturday, February 8, 2014

It was snowing again today.  I took this photo with my iphone camera. I have an external lens that clips on to my phone.  It has a macro, fish eye and wide angle lens.

Day 38, Friday, February 7, 2014

We went to Springfield this evening to the opening of the Annie Liebovitz exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Museum.  She is a famous photographer who has taken pictures of the presidents, famous rock stars, movie stars and works for Vanity Fair magazine.  This group of pictures is of famous places and things instead of people.  We got to talk to her and she was running around the hall taking selfies with phone cameras!

Day 37, Thursday, February 6, 2014

I have been going to water aerobics since the first week in January.  My doctor suggested I try non-weight bearing exercise to help with the pain in my right knee.  I really enjoy the warm water and the hour I spend in the pool on Tuesday and Thursday.

Wednesday, February 5, 2014

Day 36, Wednesday, February 5, 2014

Are you kidding me??  7 snow days this school year!  Ugh!

Day 35, Tuesday, February 4, 2014

This cupcake was sitting on my desk this morning.  It lights up and changes colors, too!  Thanks Jennifer!

Day 34, Monday, February 3, 2014

I got a text from Ty this morning.  Seems he is out of yellow legal pads and wanted me to go to Staples to get him more.  I responded we had plenty!  Then he remembered, I don't work for him anymore!  Made me laugh.  I do miss him, though!

Day 33, Sunday, February 2, 2014

Stacie and I are in the newspaper ad for Parkside.  We attended the Zumba class and posed for a picture.  They have used it for a facebook post and now in the Peoria Journal Star ad!

Day 32, Saturday, February 1, 2014

I changed my locket to wear during February.  I took all the "snow" related charms and put the away hoping that would end this winter weather.  I don't think it is working, but I am very lucky to have my conversation hearts for my locket!

Day 31, Friday, January 31, 2014

This is Mr. Al our evening custodian at school.  He has been "suggesting" he needed a cup holder on his garbage can.  Stan found this stroller cup holder and we attached it to his can.  His coffee cup fit perfectly in the holder.  Now he wants the "boom box"!

Day 30, Thursday, January 30, 2014

The last few weeks have been very stressful for me.  Today, started off down that road again.  Jim felt bad for me and sent me this planter to cheer me up.  It came to school when I got back from lunch.

Day 29, Wednesday, January 29, 2014

We have been finding candy wrappers on the floor in our office at school.  Jennifer thought we might have a mouse.  This morning, we found the "mouse hole".  When the new heating/cooling units were installed last summer, the old units were removed.  This hole was left in the wall in Jennifer's office.  Inside you can see the foil from the Hershey's Kisses that were stolen from our Christmas gifts in December!  Stan stuffed steel wool and caulking in the hole!

Day 28, Tuesday. January 28, 2014

I bought this chalkboard frame at the Marigold Festival in September.  I am going to write important messages on it as I see fit.  Today was snow day number 6 for the school year, the second day this week.  The temp is too low for the kids to be outside for very long.  This seemed to be a fitting message for my day today!

Day 27, Monday, January 27, 2014

Coco is happy momma has another Snow Day!  This is our 5th snow day.  In the 26 years I have been a school secretary, I have only had 2 days in one year.  And most years, we didn't have any snow days!
