Day 28, Friday, January 28

25 years ago today, the space Challenger exploded on take off. I remember watching the video many times over the next several weeks...each time in disbelief this happened. I was in the break room at Wal-Mart when I first heard about and saw the news announcing this disaster.

Day 27, Thursday, January 27

I bought this journal at Sam's before Christmas. I have been trying to record the food I eat in an effort to get my eating under control. There are some good recipes and hints in this book, too!

Day 26, Wednesday, January 26

This note and pair of jeans were laying on my table when I got home tonight. Nate wants me to repair the buttons on this pair of jeans. The problem is ... there is no fabric left where the button should be! And the back pocket is the same way...so I gotta figure out how to fix those. And that little striped epoxy square...Jim found it in his sock tonight! I don't know how it got there!

Day 25, Tuesday, January 25

I love fresh pineapple! Jim has been stopping at Aldi's to get a couple of pineapples for me every couple of weeks. Today they were on sale for $1.19.

Day 24, Monday, January 24

As I was coming out of Parkside tonight, the sun was setting through the trees. I ran out to my car and grabbed my camera!

Day 23, Sunday, January 23

This is a pair of my favorite shoes. I bought these during the summer on the sale rack at Bergner's.

Day 22, Saturday, January 22

Today was the annual Eagle Census on the Illinois River. We boarded a bus downtown and drove out to Wesley road, where several telescopes were waiting....all focused in on the Bald Eagles who make their home on the Illinois River during the months of December through March. I took of "few" pictures but it was really hard to get a good one in focus because they were about 300 yards away in the tree tops. This is probably the best one....and there are TWO Bald Eagles setting out to fly. It was only about 20 degrees today...and I think it was even colder down by the water. We are planning to go Eagle watching again...hopefully, on a warmer day!

Day 21, Friday, January 21

Hi Jim!

Day 20, Thursday, January 20

I just joined another ATC group. I enjoy making Artist Trading Cards. They are only 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Mine seem to all look alike! lol I am excited to start making some new designs and receiving ATC's from some new friends!

Day 19, Wednesday, January 19

This is what our house looks like from the air...or maybe space! I got this from Google Maps today. Becky Higgins suggested we try this for a potd. Where the "A" is...is not really our house...our house is the next one over. Our garage sits back behind the house.

Day 18, Tuesday, January 18

The Australian Open started on Sunday. This is a picture of one of our favorite players, Rafel Nadal. He is from Spain.

Day 17, Monday, January 17

This is my card for the February card swap. I used lots of different Stampin' Up supplies. I heat embossed the background with the Love definition stamp, cuttlebugged the kraft with a Sizzix Valentine Set, punched the scallop circle with the 2 3/8" punch, punched the hearts with two different punches, used the modern label punch and word window punch. Wow, that's a lot of punches! I inked the edges with aged mahogany. The challenge for the month was stitching....so I cross stitched with baker's twine down the side a little! Oh Boy! And rounded all the corners with a PUNCH!

Day 16, Sunday, January 16

Jim bought me a new thinksport bottle for Christmas! It is purple and I love it! He bought us each a thinksport bottle last year. I am amazed at how cold it will keep the drink in the bottle. I fill it up with ice in the morning and use it until I go to bed at night....and it still has ice in it! I always drink light raspberry lemonade, too!

Day 15, Saturday, January 15

These are the glasses that I am currently wearing. I unfortunately have to wear them all the time....and they have bifocal lens, too! I picked them because they have the magnetic clip on sunglasses.

Day 14, Friday, January 14

Tonight was Rivermen Hockey night! While we were at the game, we went to visit some friends who were sitting in another section. One of their little girls, just thought Jim was pretty cool! She sat and watched the zamboni's on Jim's lap and when we got up to leave...she followed him to the stairs. He picked her up and she gave him a hug and a kiss unprompted! He was thrilled!

Day 13, Thursday, January 13

As I was driving to work this morning, the sun was trying really hard to peak through the clouds and the trees. It really was a beautiful morning, however it was really cold!

Day 12, Wednesday, January 12

The prompt today was family. I have these frames with family pictures in them. I change them out every once in a while...but they are always here on the cedar chest...except for Christmas and I put my nativity scene here that my BFF Cindy made for me several years ago.

Day 11, Tuesday, January 11

It has been snowing since early this morning. I took this picture in the park today about 4 p.m. and it was still coming down.

Day 10, Monday, January 10

I am amazed that Giz can sleep like this. In the evening, he will sit on my legs, usually with his head at my feet. Tonight, he was asleep across my legs with his head and front legs hanging over my leg and off the foot rest....and he was snoring...loudly!

Day 9, Sunday, January 9

This is what my "scrap cave" looks like now. I had a sewing table where the second shelf went...but I took it down and put my sewing machine and serger on the other shelving unit. I don't sew that much anymore...my machines are portable, so I can just put up my 4 foot table and set them on there. My scrap table is in a "U" shape...can't see it very well, but I love the way I have access to my computer, cricut and all the tools I use by just turning my chair! I spent the majority of my day...organizing everything...well, and doing laundry!

Day 8, Saturday, December 8

I got the bug to reorganize my scrap "stuff". I needed another heavy duty shelf. You know...all the paper is very heavy! So we went to Sam's tonight and bought another industrial size shelving unit. Each shelf is supposed to hold 600 pounds! The two bottom rows are completed scrapbooks. I was up until 2 a.m....working on this...but it looks so much better!

Friday, January 7, 2011

Day 7, Friday, January 7

The prompt for today was "snow". Lucky for me...it did snow just a little today! I was outside after work, in the cold, freezing my fingers off trying to get a picture of the tiny little bit of snow that was on the ground.

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Day 6, Thursday, January 6

Giz was sound asleep in his bed. He didn't move when I came in...now this dog was comfortable! I took several pictures of him and he just stayed sound asleep!

Day 5, Wednesday, January 5

Today the prompt was hug. Well, I didn't buy them....I just photographed them!

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Day 4, Tuesday, January 4

On the fourth day of January, I had a cup of hot cocoa! Yummy, in my favorite Longaberger mug!

Monday, January 3, 2011

Day 3, Monday, January 3

This is a layout that I have been working on for a few days. I used my cricut to cut the penguins...used Design Studio to make their bodies using George ovals. I used Everyday Paper Dolls to make the hats and scarfs and Stretch Your Imagination to cut the sleds...adjusting the length and width to fit my fat little penguins. I cut the word "SNOW" with the Cuttin' Up cartridge, welding and adjusting the size to fit my title box in Design Studio. This layout is for a swap with my Chirpin' Chicks!

Day 2, Sunday, January 2

I got some money for Christmas this year and I went shopping a couple of times. These are the Tim Holtz products that I bought with my $$$'s. I can't wait to make some projects with these dies and stamps!

Day 1, Saturday, January 1

Happy New Year! Today is the first day of 2011! And today is the beginning of the third year I have taken a picture every day. This is a very important project for me...I think it is an amazing way to document our everyday life. This year, I will be doing a digital project 365, so I won't be printing pictures to go in an album. I will print a book at the end of the year. I have mixed emotions about this, because I like to look at the album as I go along. But I want to try the digital process this year!

Day 365, Friday, December 31

This is a re-enactment of the scene today...minus the rain, tornado sirens and lightening. As the story goes...Jim got up on the roof to take down the Christmas lights off the front of the house. It was 60 degrees today....so a good day to be outside. However, the wind kicked up...and blew the ladder down! I wasn't home and Jim didn't have his phone to call anyone for help. Then the rain came...tornado sirens...and finally the lightening! Jim was up there for 20 minutes and thought about jumping down....at least 3 times. The first time, the thought of a broken ankle...kept him on the roof, the second time...the thought of a broken leg...kept him on the roof, the third time...the thought of a broken hip...kept him on the roof. Finally, the neighbor saw him up there and waved at him. She came over and put the ladder back up on its legs so he could get down! He was completely soaked from the rain! I don't think he will get on the roof again when he is home alone....or at least he will have his phone!
We spent the evening at the hockey game and then went to Cindy and Eric's to celebrate New Year's Eve. We played cards, laughed and ate until 2011! It was a great ending to 2010!
