We had our appointments at customs for Global Entry. We got our TSA pre-approval in June. Mine came through out 2 weeks after our appt in June. Jim's finally came through in December. This was the first appt available.
Lisa, Pam and I met for lunch in Washington at Blue Margarita! We had so much fun talking, laughing and catching up after Christmas. We are planning to get to together again soon!
I volunteered at Take Two Resale Boutique, this afternoon. I try to help a couple of hours a day, two days a week while Jim is taking his nap! We have been doing really good selling our Totes for Ta-Ta's purses!
We went to eat dinner at Cracker Barrel. I always get the grilled chicken tenders and Jim always gets the Pot Roast. While we wait for our food, I play the golf tee game. Tonight there were 4 tees missing! Guess I will have to take my own tees next time!
A friend invited me to an event for Stampin' Up! It has been a few years since I went to a Stampin' Up! event. I enjoyed making these cards and viewing a ton of cards made with their products!
I have done "December Daily" project for 11 years. 2024 is the 12th year. This is the first time I have not even started the class until January. This afternoon I watched and cut the papers in the first video. I hope I can get it finished this month.
As the "boutique manager" for Totes, (this is not a paid position) I keep a spreadsheet with the totals for the month from each of the boutiques we sell purses. Around April, I secretly set a goal of $10,000, for the year. I am so happy we busted right past that goal for 2024! Let's go, 2025!
I needed a pedi desperately! A good friend gave me a gift certificate for Christmas. I went to get my toes done. I picked this pink polish because pink is my friends favorite color. After they were dry, I looked at the color and the name was "Princesses Rule". Just perfect!
We went to see the Muppets exhibit this morning. We got there are 9:45 and the line was estimated to be at least an hour and half long. Oh boy! We actually waited about 45 minutes. They had the line running all through the museum. We did enjoy it. Next time we will not wait until the last couple of days. This exhibit was leaving the country after showing in Peoria.
We went to The Peoria Riverfront Museum to see the Muppets display. The wait was about 3 hours long. So we decided to come back tomorrow morning. We went to the Burger Barge for dinner.
We noticed there wasn't any birds or squirrels in our yard for the last hour or so. I was in the kitchen washing my hands and looked out the window and saw this big bird. So we use google lens to find out what it was. It is a hawk. No wonder the other animals were no where to be seen. It stayed that way for at least an hour before anyone came back to our feeders.
We had our traditional New Year's Eve dinner. The past few years it has just been me and Jim. We like having the Charcuterie board for our dinner. We added some soup, too! Happy New Year!
We have been seeing this red headed woodpecker in our yard the past few days. It doesn't look very big when compared to the other birds. The feathers on his head are so very bright.
We had our traditional Christmas morning breakfast, stockings, gifts, lottery tickets and family. Merry Christmas! We watched a new to us Christmas movie tonight after everyone left. It was "A Christmas in Vermont". Chevy Chase was in it briefly.
I have been working on sorting the shells we got from Kice Island and Sanibel Island. I got them arranged into a circle of sorts. They still need to be cleaned but at least I got them put away for now.
We went with Scott and Elaine to Avanti's for the German Christmas Dinner. They enjoyed it very much. I wasn't as happy with the meal as they were, but that was ok. I ate the meat and potatoes.
Jim put Slinky's on all the bird feeders. Our crazy squirrels will NOT leave the bird feeders alone. So far, they can't get up the poles. They eat the bird seed from the ground because the birds knock it out of the feeders.
We went to the Peoria Civic Center to see "Christmas Vacation" on the big screen. After the movie was over, Chevy Chase and his wife did a Q&A with the crowd! Chevy Chase is 81 years old!! How did that happen. This was our Christmas gift from Stacie, this year. It was a fun night out. We wore our Christmas Vacation shirts that I had made in 2017.
We had a wonderful family Christmas at the Moose with the Smith side! Santa was a hit with the kids. We ordered food from Jimbo's Jumbo, had a gift exchange and watched the 4 great nieces and nephew rip through presents!
We got to the airport about 6:30 a.m. for our 8:40 a.m. take off. Let me tell you that was the most disorganized check-in I have ever see in all my flights. We barely made it on the plane before the doors closed!! There was snow on the ground when we got home. I had my sandals on because I shipped our wet tennis shoes home with the shells! Jim got the car and I picked up the luggage.
We went to Fisherman's Village. This is a nice little harbor still in recovery mode from hurricane damage. The harbor is still not usable. There were many little Christmas venues. It was super windy and most of the seating at the restaurants was outside, so we didn't eat lunch here.
This morning we stopped at Sanibel Island. The island is still recovering from 2 hurricanes within a couple of weeks of each other. We were not able to go past the guard on the beach in front of the lighthouse. We walked down the other side of the island. It looked like it was going to rain and so it did. For about an hour. That huge beautiful shell in my palm is a shark eye, that was occupied by a hermit crab, so it had to stay at the beach!
We got to the dock in Goodland at 6:15 a.m. The sun was just starting to rise. We took a boat out to Kice Island and walked about 2 1/2 miles looking for shells! We were on the island for about 4 hours. We got loads of shells! It was so much fun! I can't wait to do this again!
Jim and I went to the Peoria Riverfront Museum Christmas in the Village this evening. It was really nice! We have never gone before, but will go back again, I am sure.
Stacie and I went to an auction type fund raiser at the moose this afternoon. The Women of the Moose sponsor this event to help less fortunate families in our town.
We watched the Great Christmas Light Fight! On my, there are some pretty awesome, over the top, and beautiful light displays around the country. East Peoria actually won a couple of years ago.
Hello, my name is Aprile. I enjoy scrapbooking, making cards and altering items. My creations took a turn for the better when I bought my Cricut and Cuttlebug. I have upgraded to a Silhouette. There is definitely a learning curve, but getting more comfortable with it everyday. I haven't looked back! I have been married to a wonderful man (Jim) for 46 years. He lets me buy all the scrapbook supplies I can hide! I am retired now and look forward to everyday. Always wondering what project to get started!! Thanks for looking at my life in pictures. It is hard to believe I have been taking a photo a day and journaling about since 2009!
